Privacy Policy

Y2K Player collects no data. None.

The app has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no servers of mine. Your music files, playlists and settings live on your device and are never sent to any server of mine. The app works fully offline. Two things do leave the device, and both are described below: a small amount of state is mirrored through your own iCloud, and the app asks the App Store once a day whether a newer version exists.

Purchases

The optional Pro unlock is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Your files

Audio you import is copied into the app's private storage on your device, never modified, never uploaded, and deleted when you delete it (or the app).

iCloud

If you are signed into iCloud, a small amount of state is mirrored through Apple's iCloud key-value store so a new device picks up where the old one left off: your listening counters and streak, which songs you have favourited, and a few preferences such as the theme and visualizer you chose. No audio files are ever mirrored. This is your own iCloud account — it goes to Apple's storage under that account, not to any server of mine, and I cannot see it. Signing out of iCloud stops it.

Checking for updates

At most once a day the app asks the App Store's public lookup endpoint whether a newer version of Y2K Player has been published, so it can offer you the update. The request carries nothing but the app's own App Store id. It goes to Apple, not to me.

This website

y2kplayer.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. It is served by Cloudflare, whose infrastructure may process standard technical request data (like IP addresses) to deliver the site securely; see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Support email

If you email us, we see what you send — we use it only to help you and don't share it with anyone.

Changes

If the app ever changes how it handles data, this page and the App Store privacy label will be updated first.
